We are delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate Michael’s extraordinary achievements in the field of international law during his 58 years on the Yale Law School faculty as we commemorate the golden anniversary of YJIL. As Michael noted on the occasion of YJIL’s silver anniversary in his article, “The Vision and Mission of The Yale Journal of International Law,” YJIL was created by a committed group of students, led by one of Michael’s doctoral students, to address contemporary global challenges. Throughout the past half century, YJIL and its student editors have carried forward that legacy. Inspired by Michael’s teaching and writing, many YJIL alumni have become leaders in the field.
The 50th anniversary conference will feature renowned international legal scholars from around the world, who will discuss topics ranging from the Russo-Ukrainian War to the use of coercive economic sanctions.
