Group Coaching

What is group coaching?

Together, you and your classmates will participate in group activities and reflective discussions during group coaching sessions. Before and after sessions, you will explore concepts and tools and then do individual exercises to learn more about yourself and enhance your engagement with the group. By connecting with your fellow participants, you will recognize common themes, see new perspectives, and gain support for your plans.

What will you walk away with?

  • More awareness of where you are now so that you can figure out how work can fit into your life.
  • A deeper understanding of what work means to you and what’s important to you in life.
  • A clearer sense of the kind of impact you want to make in the world.
  • More options about the many directions your career and life could take.
  • Steps you can take now to explore those options and generate more.
  • New ways to think about making choices.

Testimonials

"Could not recommend this series enough to anyone at YLS. It is incredibly helpful for taking a holistic look at not only your legal career, but your life more broadly. Being in community with Liz and the other participants was a highlight of my semester, and the series was a much appreciated opportunity for grounding amid the busyness of law school."

"I can't recommend this series enough! Liz has carefully and thoughtfully designed it to foster deep reflection and self-awareness—helping you explore who you are, where you are, and what you truly want your life to look like. As law students, these questions often linger in the background, overshadowed by the demands of school. This series brings them front and center, giving you dedicated time each week to pause, reflect, and grow.

The course is very hands-on, with a lot of engaging and fun exercises that help you connect the dots between your values, goals, and current path. Whether you're seeking clarity, direction, or a fresh perspective, this series offers the space and support to explore it all."

"This series was one of the best uses of my time so far here at YLS and is disproportionately rewarding to time commitment required. Over the course of the few weeks, I was able to think hard about what’s important to me in my career, gain skills to reframe career challenges, and learn more about what I want from life. It’s certainly a lifelong journey but it was extremely helpful to have dedicated time in the calendar weekly to make progress towards these questions and gain practical tools to continue to design a life reflecting what matters to me."
