Residential spaces are taking shape at Baker Hall, which is undergoing a major overhaul to expand the Law School’s physical footprint for the first time in nearly a century. Living on campus was a formative experience for generations of YLS graduates, whose educational experience blended living and learning within the hallways of Sterling Law Building. The 137,000-square-foot Baker Hall will return residential life to the Law School, with apartment-style living options for students. The size of the residential spaces will be comparable to other apartment options in New Haven and will be fully furnished with furniture from Hugo & Hoby, a local company started by two graduates of the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute. The furniture is crafted from the wood of felled trees; each piece is geotagged with the coordinates of the original location of the tree.
