Robert C. Post ’77 Reappointed Dean of Yale Law School
Yale University President Peter Salovey has announced the reappointment of Robert C. Post ’77 as dean of Yale Law School and Sol and Lillian Goldman Professor of Law, effective July 1, 2014, for a term of three years.
“In conversations with Law School faculty members and students, Dean Post was widely praised for his vision and leadership over the past five years,” Salovey said. “Building on the Law School’s commitment to scholarship, Dean Post helped develop the first Ph.D. in Law program in the United States. He has also worked to assure the financial future of the Law School, including securing a $25 million gift to help return residential living to YLS. Moreover, he is valued by all as a wise colleague.”
Post joined the Yale Law School faculty in 2003 as David Boies Professor of Law, specializing in the area of constitutional law, including the First Amendment, equal protection, and legal history. He was appointed Dean of Yale Law School in 2009 and serves as the 16th Dean of Yale Law School.
Dean Post’s reappointment was approved by the Yale Corporation, in concert with the recommendation of the Law School Dean’s Review Committee, chaired by Professor Kate Stith. The members of that committee were Yale Law School Professors William Eskridge, Jr. ’78; James Forman, Jr. ’92; Oona Hathaway ’97; John Langbein; Yair Listokin ’05; Paul Kahn ’80; Jerry Mashaw; and Tracey Meares.
