Four Yale Law School students — Avi Gupta ’26, Jeremy Thomas ’26, Julia Udell ’26, and Jackson Willis ’26 — have been named 2023 Samvid Scholars, among 20 students nationwide selected for the scholarship from nearly 1,000 applicants.

The cohort includes students from U.S. graduate programs with interests spanning medicine, medical technology, law and social justice, civic engagement, climate technology, disability advocacy, and economic development.

Samvid Scholars receive up to $100,000 in funding for their graduate program and engage in two years of leadership development programming. First-year programming focuses on core questions of self-knowledge that will impact their work as future leaders. The second year on learning cross-disciplinary skills required to drive and lead impact at scale. Scholars will also attend a three-day summer conference to reflect on the year ahead.

The Samvid Scholars program was established in 2021 by Samvid Ventures to invest in the graduate education of future leaders who are committed to effecting positive change in society, according to an announcement.

The 2023 cohort also includes Henry Ritter ’25, a joint-degree student at the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of the Environment.
