Please join the Paul Tsai China Center for a comparative discussion on the evolving landscape and legal dynamics of the intersection of artificial intelligence and biotechnology. The panel features perspectives from the U.S. and China; backgrounds in law, science; and careers in academia, national laboratories, the U.S. government, and multilateral organizations. 

Moderated by Karman Lucero, Paul Tsai China Center Fellow

Speakers: 

  • Dr. Weiwen Zhang is the Baiyang Chair Professor of Synthetic Biology at Tianjin University and the Founding Director the Center for Biosafety and Research Strategy. He is also the Deputy Director of China's National Key Laboratory of Synthetic Biology. 
  • Professor Anita Cicero is the Deputy Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and a Senior Scientist at the Bloomberg School of Public Health where she runs a number of initiatives to improve global health security with countries across the world. With a legal career spanning over 30 years, she has worked in the federal government and private sector. 
  • Professor Leifan Wang is an Associate Professor of International Law at Tianjin University School of Law and the Center for Biosafety Research & Strategy. She is also a visiting scholar at the Paul Tsai China Center.
