Music venues in the city range from classical to rock and everything in between. Notably, the New Haven Symphony is the fourth-oldest orchestra in the country and the rock nightclub Toad’s Place has been ranked in the top five nightclubs in the United States.

New Haven’s a theater town, with well-respected playhouses, each with its own creative niche. The entire region has a long tradition of theater.

Yale is just big enough that there’s always somebody working on something new that I have never heard about or thought about or learned about. But it’s small enough that there are plenty of friendly faces in the hallway, no matter where I am.
