Printing

In August 2017 the printers and multifunction devices at the Law School have been replaced and new Law-specific print queues have been established for printing.  Our testing has found these printers and print queues to significantly improve print speeds and release times.  While the old print queues will still work, we recommend updating your printers to get the full benefit of the changes we have made.

When you attempt to print a job, you will be prompted to enter a Username and Password.  Your Username will be yale\NetID and the password will be your NetID password.

Hold for Authentication Error

If you see a printer icon with a yellow warning triangle, and when you open your print queue you see your job listed with a "Hold for Authentication" error, this means your print job was sent with invalid credentials.  Most likely this has occurred because you have changed your NetID password, and the old password was stored in your Keychain.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Select the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner, then type Keychain and open Keychain Access.
  2. In the search box in the keychain, enter blueprint.  This will filter your list and you should see BluePrint_BW.
  3. Double click to open, confirm your account is yale\NetID, then click the checkbox next to Show password.
  4. You will be asked to enter your computer password.  Once you do so, your password will appear on the screen.
  5. You can then enter your new NetID password in the box, then hit Save Changes.
  6. Close the box, then close Keychain Access.  Your password will now be updated.
  7. You will now need to re-send your print jobs.  Click the X next to any jobs with the Hold for Authentication error as they will not print.

Printer Keeps Pausing and Will Not Resume

If you are connected to YaleSecure or the VPN and the problem persists, please do the following:

  1. Go to the Apple symbol and select "System Preferences". Then select "Printers and Scanners".
  2. Delete the existing BluePrint printer.
  3. Click the + to add a new printer.

    • Type: Windows printer via spools

Students are issued a $100 print credit to their print accounts at the beginning of the academic year.  Additional print funds may be added via credit card or student bursar account online.  When you leave Yale, you may request to have any funds that you deposited refunded back to you.  Credits issued by the Law School will be returned to the Law School after graduation.

Add funds to your printing account

In general, your print account is only charged when a job completes printing.  However, there are times that you may have an issue (e.g., print quality) where you will need to request a refund from YPPS.
