Employer Receptions

Hosting a reception can be a useful way to inform students about what makes your organization unique and develop relationships with students. We welcome you to host an off-campus reception that is open to all students (with the exception of excluding first-year students at events taking place prior to December 1 of 1L year). Prior to organizing a reception, please contact our office at 203-432-1676 or cdo.law@yale.edu to discuss your proposed event, including dates and locations. CDO can assist in advertising your event to students by listing it in our Events calendar and in our CDO Weekly E-News. If you wish to also promote the event to Student Organizations, contact cdo.law@yale.edu.

Because your reception should serve as an information gathering opportunity and not a targeted hiring event, please do not solicit application materials from reception attendees, including resumes or transcripts. In addition, in support of our efforts to promote student wellness and prevent inappropriate behavior or harassment in the hiring process, we strongly encourage you to eliminate or deemphasize alcohol at recruiting events. If you decide to serve alcohol, consider limiting the options to beer and wine.
