Program in the United States
Every year, students from the Universidad de Palermo in Buenos Aires, the Universidad Diego Portales and Universidad de Chile in Santiago, the Universidade de São Paulo, the Fundação Getulio Vargas law schools in both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and the Universidade do Estado de Rio de Janeiro in Brazil come to New Haven for a three-week behind-the-scenes look at legal education à la Yale. While the South American participants spend most of their time observing classes, they also meet with professors, lawyers, judges, and leaders of student organizations at the law school. They give presentations on the issues they find most compelling in their home countries and bring enthusiastic sunshine to our New England winter. At the end of the program, the group travels to New York to observe hearings at the Second District Federal Court of Appeals and have lunch with lawyers in Latin American practice at a major international law firm.
