Highlights from Alumni Weekend 2017

Yale Law School alumni and families gathered in New Haven on October 20–22 for Alumni Weekend 2017. Highlights of the weekend included reunion class dinners, brunches, and activities; a student/alumni mentoring breakfast; the All Alumni Luncheon and Award of Merit Presentation; new diversity events; and panels on “A Civil Rights Agenda for the 21st Century” and “The Future of the International Legal Order.” Myron H. Thompson ’72 was the recipient of the Award of Merit on Saturday, October 21.

As a prologue to the Class of 1972 Saturday afternoon discussion on RACE, WAR AND THE ROLE OF LAW: A GROUP REFLECTION ON HOW THINGS WERE, WHAT'S CHANGED AND WHAT WE'VE LEARNED SINCE OUR YEARS AT YALE LAW SCHOOL, the class reunion chairs have arranged for a viewing of the Beinecke's Collection of Courtroom Sketches Documenting the Black Panther Trial in New Haven in 1971. The classroom seats 35 and seating will be first come first served. Beinecke staff suggest arriving 10-15 minutes early to check bags, etc.

For the Classes of 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, and all those in non-reunion years who graduated in or before 1986. The renovation of Yale Commons (now called the Schwarzman Center) has been postponed, so we are able to enjoy it for our traditional Friday dinner. Alumni and guests from the classes of 1986 and earlier will enjoy an elegant indoor reception and dinner—a full bar and passed canapés during the reception, a delicious three-course meal, and a chance to sit with your class and catch up.
