Student Life

From classes to conferences, events, and volunteering, learn about the many ways in which Yale Law students can engage with each other and the community

A Vibrant Community

Yale Law School students are at the center of a vibrant community. Whether attending classes, organizing a slate of engaging conferences and events, or volunteering to work for the public interest, our students bring their idealism and passion into every aspect of their lives. Our students are campus and community leaders, taking part in an array of student organizations (as well as editing the school's nine journals) and enjoying the social and recreational opportunities that the New Haven area has to offer. Through it all, the Law School provides a range of services to support its students — from academic counseling offered by the Office of Student Affairs to advice for the path ahead at the Career Development Office.

New Haven & the Region

“Connecticut’s third-largest city is a historic, mostly walkable and bikeable seaside town with distinctive neighborhoods, an encyclopedic collection of great American architecture, a thriving cultural life and one of the best food scenes in the country for a city of its size.” —The New York Times (2023)

Economic barriers have closed the legal profession to many, many people for far too long. This is a time when the profession must open its doors. My view is that anyone who earns a seat at the table should be able to take that seat.
