Career Fairs & Interview Programs
CDO sponsors and participates in a variety of interview programs and career fairs for both public and private sector employment, including:
Equal Justice Works Annual Conference and Career Fair in Washington, D.C.
Public Interest Legal Career Fair in New York
CDO will host a Virtual Interview Program (“VIP”) scheduled to commence in August 2021 for the Class of 2023 to secure summer 2022 employment. We are confident that a virtual program provides the most flexibility for our students and employers and offers the greatest fairness and equity for our students. In developing this program, we received significant input from employers and students, and believe our program will meet employer hiring goals while enabling our students to participate fully and safely in both their academic and recruiting experiences.
Students interested in VIP should refer to the VIP Site, which in the coming weeks will provide helpful information, including instructions and advice on selecting employers and interviewing, list of employers registered to date, links to useful websites, articles of interest, CDO advice and program videos on VIP-related topics, and a calendar of upcoming events and deadlines. Starting in mid-August students can view the employers registered for VIP, see their interview and hiring requirements, and upload application materials through the Career Management System(CMS).
Although VIP will serve as the primary method for second-year students to secure summer employment, it is by no means the only method. A CDO counselor can assist students in crafting a specific, targeted job search strategy.
Spring Interview Program (SIP)
The Spring Interview Program is Yale Law School’s annual spring recruiting event for public interest and private sector employers to interview primarily 1Ls, but also 2Ls and 3Ls for summer and permanent positions.
Due to the later start of the 2021 YLS spring term, our participation in the YLS Co-Sponsored NYU Public Interest Career Fair, and the very limited participation in our Spring Interview Program in recent years as an avenue of YLS student hiring, we will not be offering SIP in 2021.
The Public Interest Interview Program (“PIIP”) is Yale Law School’s recruiting event specific for public sector employers to interview primarily 2Ls, but also 3Ls for summer and permanent positions. This is an exciting recruitment opportunity for students passionate about pursuing a career in the public sector. PIIP will be conducted virtually throughout a two-week period in September 2021.
Students interested in PIIP should refer to the PIIP site, which in the coming weeks will provide helpful information, including instructions on selecting employers and interviewing, list of employers registered to date, and a calendar of upcoming events and deadlines.
