Yuping Lin is a doctoral student from China currently pursuing both a J.S.D. at Yale Law School and a Ph.D. in law at Peking University. She earned her LL.M. from Yale Law School in 2022. At Yale, she has served as a Tutor-in-Law (Graduate Fellow) for the Graduate Programs and as an Article Editor for the Yale Journal of Law & Technology. She is also a resident fellow at the Information Society Project (2021-now) and Paul Tsai China Center (2021-2022).
Prior to her studies at Yale, Yuping clerked at the Supreme People’s Court of China, where she was selected to deliver the opening speech on behalf of all clerks that year and was awarded the title of Excellent Clerk for her outstanding performance. She also served as a clerk at two other central government agencies: the National Development and Reform Commission and National Health Commission.
Yuping’s research centers on constitutional law, administrative law, information governance, and platform regulation. Her work explores the complex dynamics between governments and digital platforms, focusing on how information technologies promote cooperation and generate conflicts in between. She examines how these interactions are reshaping legal and political structures domestically and globally, engaging broader questions in international law, corporate law, judiciary reform and theories of informational power.
In China, her scholarship has appeared in the Supreme Court law journal as well as in peer-reviewed and student-edited journals. In the United States, she has co-authored articles with Professor Taisu Zhang and Professor Bridget Fahey, including a piece in the Virginia Journal of International Law. Her forthcoming work will be published in the Cardozo International & Comparative Law Review.
